Anaconda City Policeman here for more then four years, Michael J. Frankovich, 39, died Wednesday evening when the boat from which he and a brother in-law were fishing, capsized while they were raising the anchor in the Mussigbrod Lake. Mr. Frankovich, patrolman on the police force was to be elevated to Sergeant in the near future. He completed eight Police Academy schooling courses. Frankovich resided at 816 East Park. He was a native of Anaconda, born October 28, 1936. He attended local schools and graduated from GED educational classes at Montana Collage of Science and Technology at Butte. He worked at the Anaconda Reduction Works as a smelter man and was also employed as a teamster for S & N Construction. On March 1, 1972, he joined the Police Force. He was a member of St. Peter Church, the police Assn., Teamsters Union Smelter men's Union, 4X4 Patrol, Anaconda Elks Lodge & he graduated as an Emergency Medical Technician. He was proceeded in death by his father Michael James Frankovich & his first wife of six years Margaret E. Frankovich. His second wife Juanita (Bastidas) Frankovich, survives in Anaconda, six daughters and two sons-in-law survive; Mr. & Mrs. Larry Pahut, Anaconda; Mr. & Mrs. Brad Chandler, Heyburn, Idaho; Peggy, Jean Ann, Michelle & Melissa Frankovich, all of Anaconda. One son & daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Joe Hidalgo survive at Nashwauk, Minnesota. Three grandchildren, Mandy Jo Hidalgo, Billy Jo Chandler and Amy Jo Pahut survive. His mother Mrs. Mary Alice Frankovich survives in Anaconda, and eight sisters & seven brothers-in-law; Mr. & Mrs. Larry Riley, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Cutler, Mr. & Mrs. Tom Sarginson, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Connors, Mr. & Mrs. Larry Parks, & Janie Frankovich, all of Anaconda; and Mr. & Mrs. Tim Mix of Randall, Minnesota., Mr. & Mrs. Larry Morrison, Phillipsburg. Two brothers and one sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. John Frankovich, Provo, Utah, survive and Gary Frankovich, Anaconda. A mother-in-law Mrs. Mary Bastidas lives in Seattle, Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include Mr. & Mrs. Jim Theolfelis and Mr. & Mrs. Don Smith, all of Seattle. Numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles survive. The vigil service will be held at the Finnegan Funeral Home tonight at 7pm. Officers and members of Anaconda Elks Lodge 239 will conduct ritualistic services at 8pm. Anaconda policeman will post an honor guard this evening. The funeral will be tomorrow (Saturday) with mass of the Resurrection at 10:30am at St. Peter's Church. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
