Edna Louise Crabtree Tipps, age 87, departed this life on August 4, 2017, following an extended illness while at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Franklin County, December 22, 1929 to Rufus Quincy Crabtree and Ava Anna Cooper Crabtree. Edna graduated from Central High School in 1948 and completed the licensed practical nursing program in 1971. Though she enjoyed working as a nurse for several years, her heart kept her at home where she cared for her loving husband and five children. As her family grew, adding spouses for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she enjoyed traveling for visits, special celebrations and sporting events involving her family. She excelled as a seamstress and made the best peanut brittle in the world. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was an active lifetime member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school classes and was active in women’s ministries as well as being a member of the intercessory prayer team and JOY club. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Roy Tipps, daughter, Gail (Al) Rogers, grandchildren Joshua (Rachel) Rogers, Jarrod (Blair) Rogers; daughter, Robin Gunn, granddaughter, Amy Gunn; daughter, Holly (Troy) Hood, grandson Brandon Hood; son, Steven (Vicki) Tipps, grandchildren Alyson (Ed) Kelly, Jacquelyn (James) Duke, Steven Chase (Rosalie) Tipps; son, Jerry (Gail) Tipps, grandchildren, Adam (Haley) Tipps; Heath (Andrea) Tipps; 17 great grandchildren; sister Nell Parham, brother Jack (Darlene) Crabtree and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, August 7, 2017, from 1 -3:00 p.m. at Winchester First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the funeral immediately following at 3:00 p.m. Services will be conducted by Dr. Michael Clark and Rev. Anna Brockman with interment to follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens. Watson-North Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, send donations to the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Multi-County Cancer Support Network.
