Lititz Record, Friday, Oct. 21, 1904, p.3, col.3:
"Miles Hallacher, of the village of Warwick, who on the second of October celebrated his 86th birthday, passed away suddenly at a quarter to one o'clock on Monday morning from heart disease. He arose about half-past twelve and went down stairs, followed by his housekeeper, who found him to be in great pain. He took a chair in the kitchen and in a short time passed away. Few men were better known at home and abroad in his time than Miles Hallacher, the horse dealer. He had friends and acquaintances east and west, and north and south. He was of a sociable disposition, and to know and converse with him was a pleasure. He was born near Rothsville, where on December 30, 1841, he was married to Hannah Bomberger, who died May 4, 1895. In 1855, Mr. Hallacher and his family moved to Warwick and lived in the corner house at Broad and Orange streets for many years, later occupying the house next to the old house where he died. About twenty years ago he retired from the active life. He was a member of the German Baptist denomination. Mr. and Mrs. Hallacher had two daughters, Mrs. Edwin Young, who survives, and Mrs. Philip Orth, who died here last June. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great grand children. The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon. The remains lay in a pretty polished walnut casket white white satin lining and silver extension handles. The body was attired in a white shroud. The deacons of the German Baptist denomination served as pall bears. Short services were held at the house and later funeral discourses were delivered by Rev. Cyrus Gibble, of Brunnerville, and Rev. Isaac Taylor of Voganville. Interment in the cemetery adjoining the meeting house
