Pauline Betty Claussen, 80, of LeClaire, died Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Riverview Manor Nursing Home in Pleasant Valley.
          Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire, Iowa.  Memorials may be made to Scott County 4-H.
         
Betty was born October 22, 1931 in LeClaire, the daughter of Lee & Lucille (Shadler) Clark.  She was united in marriage to Arnold Claussen on May 27, 1953 in Argo, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on February 3, 2000.

Betty was a devoted homemaker and farm wife.  She was a member of the Questers Organization, the Scott County Beef and Pork Producers and Scott County 4-H.  Betty was involved in the Cody Museum in LeClaire. Additionally, she was a member of Our Savior Presbyterian Church in Argo, Iowa, and had served as past president of the Scott County Iowa Pioneer Settlers Descendants.

Betty was a two year collegiate All-American basketball player. In 1951 she participated in the Pan-American Games in Central American and in 1952 she participated in the World Games in Santiago, Chile.  Betty was inducted in the Iowa Girls Basketball Hall of Fame.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons and daughters-in-law, Dale & Kathy Claussen of Bettendorf, Tom & Jennifer Claussen of Long Grove, Iowa and Kent & Denise Claussen of LaFontaine, IN: her grandchildren, Trent (Katie) , Dean (Kristal), Marla, Brady, Benjamin, Creighton, Rylee, Skyler and Quinn.

In addition to her husband, Arnold, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Ruth & Vivian; and her brothers, Charles & Henry.
