"Evening Post" (New York NY) - Friday, 08 Jul 1814 -- Drowned, in Merrimac River, on Wednesday evening, 22d inst. Master Francis Thompson, son of the Hon. Thomas W. Thompson, of Concord, aged 10 years. In walking on the bank of the river, with several other boys of his age, after bathing, he unfortunately slipped off by the bank giving away, and was precipitated into deep water. The other boys, alarmed, and expecting blame, did not disclose the catastrophe, until enquiry was made at a later hour, the boy not returning home as usual, and when sharply questioned where Frank was, (as they had been seen together) one of them burst into tears, and disclosed the affecting incident. His body was not found until early the next morning.
