Born March 29, 1907 in Bountiful, Utah, the son of Dan and Georgina Barlow Muir. Married Lucile Sedgewick September 7, 1927 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Harold was a loving and caring husband to Lucile for 66 years.He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in several positions through the years. The position he talked about the most was Young Men's President. Harold loved working with the youth as was reflected in his efforts to build a youth center. He organized, with a lot of good help, the Cantaloupe Days Celebration. The funds gained from that built the youth center building in 1946 approximately where the ice rink is now. He became known as Father of Cantaloupe Days! He also loved horses and was one of the original organizers of the Twin Star Riders Riding Club in 1946. Harold owned an appliance and furniture store in Bountiful at #2 North Main. Harold retired and closed that store after about 26 successful years. He later went into the real estate business and other sales work.
Harold is preceded in death by his wife and two daughters, Melva Benzon, Carma Muir, and son-in-law, Jerry Bingham. Survived by his children, Ronald S. Muir (Colleen) of Centerville, Carl B. Muir (Gladys) of Murray, George W. Muir (Syd) of Bountiful, Joan Marchant (Richard) of Bountiful, Linda Bingham of Bountiful; two sisters, Aurelia Graham of Salt Lake City and Edith Deppe of West Bountiful. 28 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Joseph Benzon.
Funeral services will be held Saturday November 27, 1999 at 1 p.m. at the Bountiful Ninth Ward Chapel, 585 E. Center St. There will be a viewing Saturday morning from 10:30-12:30 at the church. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main.
