Lewis spelled his surname both Sprenkle & Sprankle. In fact, a legal notice published in the newspaper after his death regarding his estate referred to him as: "Lewis A. Sprankle, also known as Lewis A. Sprenkle, late of
Hamiltonban Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania."
Additionally, some records show his middle initial as "A." and others as "E." His wife's tombstone shows her as the wife of Lewis A. Surely Lewis himself arranged for the tombstone, so presumably "A." is correct. (And apparently he was using the Sprenkle spelling at the time she died.)
He married Flora Lowe. They had one adopted daughter, Evelyn Sanders Sprenkle.
