Daughter of James Arthur McCaig and Ora Lee Hughes McCaig.

Sister of Horace Edward McCaig (1914-1983), Annie Mae McCaig Holland (1916-2003), Charles Travis McCaig (1918-2000), Audrey Estelle McCaig McCollum Black (1919-2002), James Buford McCaig (1923-1980), Grace McCaig Smith (1925-), and Rogers E. McCaig (1935-2009).

Lena Ozell McCaig Justus - Arlington, TN - A glorious celebration took place in Heaven on Friday, June 23, 2017, when the Lord opened the gates of heaven for Lena Justus. She received her reward for the faithful work she had done on this earth for her 95 years and 8 months. Even in her declining years she did not falter in professing her faith and telling others about her Lord and Savior. One of her greatest works on this earth was being instrumental in establishing a vibrant and active Bible class at the nursing home where she resided. Even at 90+ years she was trying to bring people to Christ. She shared many books and pamphlets to staff, visitors, and even to nurses at the doctors' office. Her surviving children are very blessed to have had such a faithful and loving mother. Her surviving children are James Frank Justus (Peggy) of Brighton, TN; Harriet Justus Browning (Wayne) of Arlington, TN; and Sheila Ann Turman (Chester) of Olive Branch, MS. Her grandchildren include Jason Justus (Tammy) of Mars, PA; Justin Milam (Heather) of Bartlett, TN; Lindsay Lanphere (Chris) of San Tan Valley, AZ; Trey Turman (Melody) of Horn Lake, MS; Jerry Thomas of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; and step-grandchildren Gordon Browning and Bentley Browning of Memphis, TN. She also loved Bentley's son Blake. She leaves great-grandchildren Courtney Justus, Kyle Justus, Brandon Milan, Brittany Milam, Avien Lanphere, Coen Lanphere, and Danica Turman. Other very important people in her life included her sister-in-law Catherine McCaig of Baton Rouge, LA and her niece Rhonda Magnolia of Baton Rouge, LA. Marek Dawidow, Lorraine Jones, and Mike Parks were her Bible study partners each week. She loved them dearly. Preceding her in death were her husband, James Oliver Justus; son, Billy Joe Justus; daughter, Amanda Jane Stroh; and an infant son, Gerald Warren Justus. Lena was the last to pass of eight siblings born to James Arthur McCaig and Ora Lee Hughes McCaig. She was the middle child and a strong support to all her brothers and sisters. She was gentle and kind and had a way of making friends easily. This was evidenced by the many, many cards and letters she received almost daily in her later years. Lena was born on October 18, 1921, in Rossville, Alabama. Her family later moved to Tennessee. He met and married James Oliver Justus and they had six children. Lena worked at Kay Cookie Company, Brys Department Store, and sold Avon. Most of her life she spent in her church work and raising her children. She was a wonderful cook and a self-taught quilter. She made many quilts and afghans for the family and friends. Services will be at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN on Monday, June 26, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation is Sunday, June 25, 2017; from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Remembrances can be made to Bartlett Woods Church of Christ, 7900 Old Brownsville Road, Arlington, TN in her name.
