My Great Grandfather John Francis Burns was born August 12,1867 in Pennsylvania and lived his life in Apollo, Armstrong County, Pa. working in the steel mills.

He was the son of Henry Johnston Burns(1844-1923) and Matilda Criner(1840-1939). He was the oldest of 8 children:Sarah Loretta, Henry Lewis, Mary E., Rose L., Georgianna, Hannah M. and Everett Floyd.
At the young age of 12 years he lived on a nearby farm working as hired help to earn hisown keep.

He married Jennie Westerman(1871-1935) January 27,1889 in Pa. Jennie was born in Bulter County in 1871. They had 8 children: Edna Mae, Harry H., John Francis, Matilda D, Vilola Bessie (Dolly), Hazel E. and Mary F.

John Francis served in the armed forces during World War I.
John Francis is buried along side his wife Jennie Westerman Burns and daughter Viola "Dolly" Burns in Riverview Cemetery, 717 Highland Avenue in Apollo, Armstrong County, Pa. Phone Number: 724-478-1381
