Peggy Ann Hornbuckle Jennings was born Aug 24th, 1942 in Pittsburg, KS to Ewell L. and Vesta P. (Wright) Hornbuckle. She was the second of three daughters. Peggy died peacefully in her home in Shreveport, LA on May 29th, 2017, with her husband by her side.
Peggy was a graduate of Pittsburg High School, where she excelled in music classes both as an accomplished violinist and vocalist. She studied business classes and accounting at Pittsburg State University.
She was a very talented musician and a gifted vocalist. She sang with the Sweet Adelines Chorus for many years, and was a member of the “Southern Comfort” quartet. Peggy sang perfect harmony and used her talent to bring joy to many.

Peggy worked in the accounting field at businesses in Kansas and Louisiana her entire adult life. She retired from G&G Distributing in February of 2008.

Peggy met her husband John in Naples, Italy in December of 1967. She was working for the Red Cross, and he was stationed at a Naples NATO Command. They were married on February 6th in 1971 in Pittsburg, KS. Last February they celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.

John and Peggy are the parents of five children, Marc Robert, Janeen Ann, Jennifer Kathleen, Mary Vesta, and John Joseph Jr. Peggy was proceeded in death by her older son Marc Robert, oldest and youngest daughters Janeen Ann and Mary Vesta, her parents Ewell and Vesta Hornbuckle, and her older sister Aura Jane Doty.

Peggy is survived by her husband John of Shreveport, LA, her daughter Jennifer Kathleen, her son John Jr., ten grand children, and four great-grand children, and her sister Eweleen Good of Parsons, KS. Many nieces and nephews mourn her loss. She has been a member of St. Jude Catholic Church since April of 1979.

Her family remember her as a wonderfully kind and gentle soul. Her strength and courage were two of God’s gifts she wore well. Her humor was subtle, but always present.

We, her family, would like to express our thanks to all the wonderful healthcare people in Shreveport and Bossier who loved and cared for Peggy through the years. Our special thanks to doctors Sally Ball and Richard Zweig, whose love and care nurtured and sustained Peggy through the years. We are proud to call them friends.
