Rhoda Ann Sandridge was born in Tennessee. Her mother died when she was seven years old; and in 1872 she came to Missouri with her father and other members of the family from Franklin Co., TN. The family settled in Texas Co., MO, later moving to Hutton Valley (Howell Co.). In 1880 the family had settled in the southern part of Oregon Co., MO.
Rhoda married 12 Mar 1882 to John D. Tucker; and established a home at Couch, MO. John was a hard working farmer and provided a good home for his family.
They were regular to the attendance of the church services held at the New Salem Church; when the church was built at Couch, they attended services there. They were considered a good and upstanding figure to the community.
Rhoda was a well known mid-wife in the community.
They had eight children, Maudie (died as an infant); Grover Cleveland; Noah Otto; Verdia Anthem; Gilbert "Bob" Winston; Mallie May; Howard Booth; and Sanford Bradshaw. Rhoda was also mother to John Sylvester, from John's first marriage and who was a baby when they married.
John died 13 Jun 1937 and Rhoda died 04 Jun 1947. Both are buried in the New Salem Cemetery.
