Dorothy, 89, New Bremen, died at 10:57 p.m., at St. Marys Living Center.

She was the daughter of Lewis C. and Mary L. (Ronan) Ahrns. On Sep 23, 1952, she married Norman F. 'Jim' Leiss, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are four daughters: Deborah (Wayne) Pittman, Grover, NC, Vickie Leiss, Sidney, Cynthia Leiss, Celina, and Keila Leiss, New Bremen; and five grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Deceased are four brothers: Bud, William, David and Tommy; two sisters: Lois Wagner and Virginia McConnell.

A faithful and active member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer of New Bremen for many years, she was involved with Radio Maria, a Eucharistic minister to the area hospitals for many years, and was deeply devoted to the Adoration. She liked to help people. She loved to interact with small children and enjoyed animals of all kinds. She enjoyed taking trips to the Our Lady of Consolation Basilica, Carey, and enjoyed sightseeing in the countryside. For 22 years, she worked at the Copland Corp., Sidney, where she had been a spot welder for many years prior to her retirement in 1989.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the Church of the Holy Redeemer, New Bremen. Interment will follow in the Pearl Cemetery, near Sidney.
