Fletcher "F.C." Leavell, Jr., 78, of Waynesboro, Va., died on Friday, April 28, 2017, at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg. He was born June 17, 1938, in Waynesboro, son of the late Fletcher and Edith Pannell Leavell.

He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy. "F.C." retired as a heavy equipment operator with numerous companies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia "Ginger" Degler; and brothers, William "Bill" Leavell and Charles "Tip" Leavell.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Leavell of Waynesboro; brothers, John Leavell (Marge), and Ed Leavell, both of Waynesboro, and "Bud" Leavell (Pam) of Elgin, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation at McDow Funeral Home, however friends may call anytime at his residence. A graveside service will be at held at 11 a.m.Tuesday, May 2, 2017,in Mt. Vernon Church of the Brethren Cemetery officiated by Pastor Dwight Roetto. Condolences may be shared at www.mcdowfuneralhomeinc.com. McDow Funeral Home is assisting the family.
