Born in Duncan, Okla., to the Rev. R.F. and Ethel Mae Blakemore Brooks, she died at the local hospital. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles F. Steen, on Feb. 11, 1982; her second husband, Rufus Fleming, whom she married on Nov. 3, 1987, in Ardmore, on July 10, 2000; two brothers, Alfred and Clifford; three sisters, Bertha, Rachel and Frances; and her parents.
Mrs. Fleming had been a resident of this area all her life and was a member of CrystalRock Cathedral. She was beloved by all her friends and family. She had a special affinity for children.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharron Vance, Garland, Texas; brother, Raymond Brooks, Dougherty; and grandson, Kevin Wayne Vance, Dallas.
Bearers will be her grandson, Kevin Vance, nephews, Larry Scott, Ray Brooks, Jay Oxley, James Collins and Danny Steen. Honorary bearers are Dennis Steen, Joe Higgenbotham, Dewey Oxley, David Manwarin and Charles Brooks.
