Mr. Wirwas was a retired employe of the U.S. Hoffman Machinery Corp. He was a disabled World War I veteran, having served with Company F, Ninth Infantry. He was awarded a Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster.
He was an organizer of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Post 14, and the Polish-American Citizens Club. He was former president of the board of directors of the PLAY.
He was a member of General Pulaski Post 1650, American Legion, and the Polish National Alliance of the U.S.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anna Wysocki Wirwas; two daughters, Mrs. Matthew Pietroski and Mrs. John Zych; a son, Alexander Wirwas Jr. of Inglewood, Calif. ; a sister,
Mrs Alexandra Barzydio of Poland; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews in Poland.
Services will be at 8:45 a.m. tomorrow at the Labacz Funeral
Home. 616 Teall Ave., and at 9 a.m. in Transfiguration Church where a solemn high requiem Mass will be celebrated. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt
