Margaret "Estelle" was the 2nd of nine children born to John Washington and Mittie Mae Brooks Johnson. Her older brother Clifton born in 1906, drowned in the James River in 1918 leaving her as the oldest.
She married Alexander Forrester "Mike" Ford on September 25, 1930 in Washington, District of Columbia.
