** THE WAR OF 1812 **

~ "William 'Banks' Anthony" was in the TN Militia. He died on 1-8-1815 @ The Battle of New Orleans. He was one of either 8 or 13 US soldiers who died that day during battle.

His youngest brother, Charles Anthony, said he saw Banks riding his horse up to the family home in VA..then he vanished...days later, the family got news that Banks had died in battle...the very same day that Charles had seen him riding home.

~ Brother, "Capt. Mark Anthony SR., lead 500 men from Bedford Co., VA in his artillery company during The War of 1812.

Banks' wife Susan lived-with their daughter, Amanda Anthony m: Brodie, & her husband Loddie in Fayetteville, Washington Co., AR until her death. She died 13 years after Banks' death. It is thought that she is buried in the same cemetery as Amanda.

I have not found any documentation that states where Banks was buried. There are 3 or more logical choices: @ brother Charles Anthony's Walnut Hill Cemetery near Evington, VA where many of his family are buried; or @ some cemetery in Gallatin, Sumner Co., TN where his wife & children lived; or in New Orleans, LA where he died. Hopefully, I or someone will locate his grave one day soon.
