Funeral services for Henry Raymond Barnes, 69, of Carthage were held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 7 at Jimerson Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage. Luther Barnes officiated with Bruce James assisting. Burial followed in Rehobeth Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson Funeral Home. He died Saturday, July 5 at Willis Knighton Hospital in Shreveport, La.
Born Aug. 28, 1927 in Vivian, La., he was the son of Joseph J and Nell Dailey Barnes. Henry was a operator with OXY Production Company and had lived in Carthage since 1968 coming from Lefors, Texas. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II and a membr of Northside Church of Christ. Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Barnes who died March 21, 1996.
Survivors include his son, Russell Barnes of Carthage; daughters, Judy Simpson and Brenda Knight, both of Carthage; brothers, James Barnes of Pittsburg, Texas, Luther Barnes of Shreveport and Eddie Barnes of Center; grandchildren, Heather Simpson of Tyler, Heidi Klein of Pampa, Texas, Justin Knight, Trey and Gigi Barnes, all of Carthage; and two great-grandchildren.
