1st lieutenant, Co. F, 21st Regiment, Missouri Volunteer Infantry

ANDREWS, R. D., one of the earliest settlers in Wyacondah Township, was born in Franklin County, Indiana, September 1, 1836.

He enlisted, November 15, 1861, in the Twenty-First Missouri Volunteers, was in the Cattles of Shiloh, Corinth, Fort Blakely and Nashville; was discharged at Mobile, Ala., April 15, 1865, and returned home.

He was married, March 9, 1856, to Miss Julia Ann Spurgeon, formerly of Washington County.

Enlisted as a 2nd Lieutenant (date unknown).

He also had service in: "F" Co. MO 21st Infantry

He applied for a pension on 6/4/1883 from the state of IA; application #485,759
His Widow (Julia A Andrews) applied for a pension on 4/29/1910 from the state of IA. application # 941,167

Former Mark Postmaster Passes Away at Monterey, Feb. 24
R. D. Andrews, one of Davis county's oldest and best known pioneers, expired at his home at Monterey, February 24, 1910, at 3:30 p.m. The funeral was held Friday at the Monterey Christian church, the service being conducted by Rev. Swan. A large concourse of neighbors and friends followed the remains to the Hopkins cemetery, where interment occurred.

Mr. Andrews leaves a wife, six children, numerous other relatives and a host of friends to mourn his loss. He was well known in this county, having lived here for many years. He was for a long time a postmaster at Mark, and resided there until a couple of years ago, when he moved to Monterey.
d. February 24, 1910.
