August was the son of Frank Bauman and Thresia Hess. On 12 Nov 1912 he married Mary Brown and they had five children: Herbert, Myrtle, Dorothy, Gladys and Earl. He was a retired machinist for the Louisville Transit Co. August died of a heart attack at his home, 6203 Culloden Drive, at the age of 85.
