Married John Harris, 1882.

History - Harriet Jackson had been married in England to a Samuel Otterway. They had four children: two sons, both of whom died shortly after birth, and two daughters: Mary Ellen born in 1857 in Belper England and Jane also born in Belper in 1859. The Jeneiva in the 1870 census is actually Jane, born in England.

Harriet left Samuel in England and went to Iowa in 1861 to join her father and step mother, George Jackson and Ruth Marsden who had migrated there in 1856 with their combined families. They are found in the 1860 census.

Interesting however, is the fact that Harriet only brought Jane on the Underwriter in 1861. Family researchers do not know how Mary Ellen reached Utah by 1870 because she is also listed in the 1871 census in England. Family reseachers wonder if Harriet wanted to have her daughter with her, so she put her in the census record, even though Mary Ellen was still in England.

Harriet had married David Smith Hitesman in 1862 or 1863 in Utah. She had migrated with her parents in the Lewis Brunson Company of 1862. It haven't been able to determine if David Hitesman was in a company or if he just struck out on his own across the plain. He left a family in Indiana sometime after the 1870 census there.

Jane (Jeneiva) died in 1873 in Salt Lake. She is buried in her brother's (David Samuel Hitesman) plot in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Mary Ellen married Benjamin Platt in England in 1880. Then they migrate with their first child sometime before 1883 as they have a child born in Patterson, New Jersey that year.

In the census records there is a family living in Moroni in 1870 listed as "Heightsman". The following are listed as living within the household:

David 35 Pennsylvannia
Harriet 35 England
Mary E. [sic] (Mary Ellen Otterway) 13 England
Jeneiva [sic] (Jane Otterway) 11 Iowa
Roseanna 7 Utah
Emma 5 Utah
David H. 3 Utah
Eliza A. 1 Utah
