Marshall Lee Hart departed this life on the wings of the dove in the early hours of April 3, 2020. Marshall had suffered a long succession of illnesses with patience, grace and faith, he will be lovingly mourned and missed. Prayers for the repose of his soul will be greatly appreciated.

Marshall was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on July 29, 1945 to Albert Lee Hart and Beulah Mary Limke Hart, who preceded him in death. Marshall was proud of his hometown and the education he received at Alice Robertson Elementary School, Edison Junior and High School.

After graduation from Northeastern State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Uncle Sam invited him to join the military. Marshall wanted to see if he was man enough to hack it, choosing the United States Marine Corps. He received his basic training at MCRD in San Diego and completed his training for field control artillery man at Camp Pendleton. After receiving orders he journeyed to the far side of the world to spend a year on Dong Ha Mountain in the DMZ of Vietnam. He vividly recalled landing while taking fire and thinking he was going to die before he was even issued his M16. Later, his lieutenant rousting him yelling, "Hey, Nikki New Guy, take cover, we're taking rockets." Marshall was stationed at LZ Russell and LZ Studs, where he served in Battery H, 3rd Battallion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. He earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Rifle Marksman Badge, and Good Conduct Medal. He received his PhD. in Life and Death, from the University of Vietnam . He was of honorable character and received an Honorable Discharge.

After returning to the United States and civilian life, Marshall attended Southwestern State College where earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. He wanted a career to help people and try and give back what he had taken in Vietnam. He worked in a variety of settings, including retail, county and hospital pharmacy. He retired from St. John Medical Center and for the remainder of earthly sojourn, made his home between Tulsa, OK and West, MS.

Marshall had a lifelong love of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Chevrolet Covettes, the New York Yankees, Oklahoma Sooners and seeing the big old U.S. of A. After retirement he enjoyed seeing all the species of North American birds and traveling to California to see his daughter and grandchildren. Marshall was also partial to Arturo Fuentes Opus X Triple X Cigars, he was able to treat himself to 3 prior to his passing, courtesy of and thanks to Capt. Joseph A. Campbell, USN Retired, running all over Washington D.C. to procure them.

Marshall was a Roman Catholic, devoted to the Traditional Latin Rite. While residing in West, he attended St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Lexington. There, he found a very friendly, caring parish that were unbelievably supportive during his illness. Thank you to parishioners for all the prayers and rosaries said on Marshall's behalf. Thank you Phyllis for the special prayers. Thank you Sister Madeline, for visits and the wooden cross, he held on to that many time when in trials. Special love and gratitude is extended to Sam and Jamie Sample for their love and support, as well as Sister Mary Walz for rescuing us when the Camry gave up the ghost.

Heartfelt gratitude to the people of the town of West for all the love, food, help, post office runs, lawn mower repair, snake removal, grass mowing, shopping runs and support. Thanks you to the Doug and Jean Aldridge, Sammy and Mitzi Aldridge, Billie Jo Aldridge, Suzanne and Bill Bowie, Carol Black, Gary Bouchillon, Merideth, Michael, Hallie and Peyton Fancher, Lynn and Workhorse Buddy Hathcock, Sara and Joe McLellan, Owen and Natalie Mclellan, Mary Ann Stevens (Marshall got immense pleasure from the fresh strawberries), and the Jolynn and Jason White. Huge thanks to Jean Aldridge, my de facto sister, for the "comfort food" and putting five pounds back on Marshall. Thank you Ann Campbell Peeples for offers of help, you saved me more than once with Mom. Thank you Dr. Charles Campbell , just for being there, knowing that helped me go on. Marshall said he was honored to have known all of you and appreciated you support. Thank you to Brittany, RN; Lacy, RN; Pam LPN, and Tiffany LSW with Adoration Hospice. Thank you to Dexter Howard, Holmes County Coroner for you kindness and compassion.
