James Harper Shiflett, Jr., age 99, died Wednesday, November 25, 2015.
Born in Rome, GA, on September 8, 1916, James came to Kathleen from Rome, Georgia, 91 years ago. James was a car inspector for the Atlantic Coastline Railroad and retired after 38 years. He was a member of Kathleen Baptist Church. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, and a Mason. He coached many new Masons through the blue lodge degrees.
James was preceded in death by his father James Harper Shiflett, Sr.; mother Sarah Elizabeth (Griffin) Shiflett, brother Richard Griffin Shiflett, sisters Eunice Elizabeth Jenkins and Sarah Hortense Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 78 years, Voncille Shiflett; daughter Trudy Meador; grandsons James William Meador (Glory), Robert Jerry Meador (Maralyn), granddaughter Rebecca Sharlene Bishop (Michael), great grandsons James Meador, Matthew Bishop.
