Musician, Record Producer. He was best known for being a member of the 1970s funk band the Ohio Players and later as the musical director of the group P-Funk (Parliament-Funkadelic). He was a producer, writer, keyboardist and vocalist for the funk band the Ohio Players in the early 1970s, where he was involved in some of their major hits, "Pain", "Pleasure", "Ecstasy" and "Funky Worm" from 1970 to 1974. He left the band in 1974 and released three solo albums under the name Junie. In 1977 he joined George Clinton's P-Funk (Parliament-Funkadelic) where he became musical director. He brought an unique sound to the group and was mostly responsible for their greatest popularity from 1978 to 1980. He played a major role in their platinum-selling album "One Nation Under a Groove", their number 1 R&B single in 1979 "(Not Just) Knee Deep", and their gold selling albums "Motor Booty Affair" and "Gloryhallastoopid". He also produced and played on other P-Funk material under the name J.S. Theracon. He, along with fifteen other members of P-Funk, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. He continued to record and produce albums for himself and for P-Funk and other groups into the early 21st Century. (bio by: Mr. Badger Hawkeye)
