Leonides Machado y Chapman was born at Rancho la Ballona on February 17, 1866. She was the daughter of José Rafael Machado y Palomares and María Guadalupe de Talpa Chapman y Villa* (Sep. 20, bap. Sep. 23, 1845 [LA Baptism 01502]-btwn 1883-1900, Palms). Her parents were married at the Los Angeles Plaza Church February 6, 1865. She married (1) attorney John Robarts August 4, 1890, with whom she acquired 7 step children from John's previous marriage to the widow Refugio Domínguez. John and Leonides then had two children of their own. Two years after John Robarts' death she married her stepson (2) Juan "John" Ranolfo Reyes y Domínguez on June 27, 1896. Leonides died at their residence at 427 Olive Street, Taft, Kern County, January 4, 1933, and John brought her remains to Angelus Rosedale Cemetery for burial.
