Ángel María Reyes y Machado was born at Los Angeles, Alta California, México, where he was baptized at Mission San Gabriel January 31, 1832 (SG Baptism 07766). He was the son of José Jacinto Reyes y Domínguez (BP Baptism 00055-LA Death 00323) and María Antonia Francisca Valentina Machado y Valenzuela (BP Baptism 00090), both residents of el Pueblo de los Angeles. He became a U.S. citizen with the transfer of California's sovereignty in 1848. He married María del Refugio de la Luz Domínguez y López at the Los Angeles Plaza Church April 25, 1864. He and his family appear as residents of Los Angeles Township in August 1870 (US Census). He died at Los Angeles and was buried in the (Old) Calvary Cemetery July 11, 1876.
