Funeral services will be held at Stevens Mortuary on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend John Kessinger officiating. Burial will follow at Clinton Falls Cemetery, Clinton Falls, IN. Visitation will be held at Stevens Mortuary prior to the funeral services on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Stevens Mortuary is located at 5520 W 10th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46224.
Richard (Dick) was born in Spiceland, IN, to Carroll and Gladys (Chew) Copeland on November 13, 1935. He attended high school at Spiceland High School and graduated in 1954. He retired from Overnight Transportation of Indianapolis. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Smiles Unlimited, a clown ministry, and served as the organization’s treasurer for several years.
Richard is survived by his son Thomas (Linda) Copeland of Indianapolis, daughter Melinda (Gary) Sowers of Indianapolis, grandsons Patrick (Brittany) Copeland of Indianapolis, IN, James (Jessica Toler) Copeland of Lafayette, IN, brothers Max (Janet) Copeland of Greenwood, Paul (Maxine) Copeland of New Castle, five nieces, two nephews, several great nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Arnold Copeland, his parents Carroll and Gladys Copeland, brothers William, James, Dale Copeland, sisters Carolyn (Bob) Addison and Jonell Copeland Green.
