~ "Henry Meriwether Fowlkes" (1830 VA--1887 VA) &
~ "Martha Frances (Mattie) Fowlkes m: Fowlkes" (1845 VA--1923 VA). They married in 1873 VA. He was a widower when he married Mattie.
Lucy was born on 8-5-1874 @ the Hyde Park plantation in Nottoway Co., VA. Hyde Park was originally built in 1762 by John A. Fowlkes & called "Old Field" until Lucy's grandpa (Paschal Jennings Fowlkes) married his wife. Two years later in 1840, he listed the plantation in honor of his wife, Martha Ann Hyde Fowlkes, as Hyde Park.
Lucy was educated @ Old Richmond Women's College & Hollins College.

LUCY married "Frank Vaughan Fowlkes" (1867 VA--1936 VA). They married in VA.
FRANK was a dr. who was noted as attending physicians' seminars on the care of children & their cleanliness.
Frank was the only child of: "Adrian Fowlkes" (1839 VA--1900 VA) & "Elizabeth Vaughan Fowlkes" (1847 VA--1869 VA). Adrian was a CSA soldier of Amelia Co., VA & a farmer.

He married "Elizabeth Rives Williams" in 1940 @ Richmond. He was a college graduate of seminary school & was a local cleryman until WW2. He was a chaplain & Captain of the 507th. Parachute Infantry Regiment. His plane was shot-down over Wesel, Germany in 1945. He was buried @ the American War Cemetery Margraten @ Limburg, Netherlands. Paschal & Elizabeth had 1 Son, "Frank V. Fowlkes" (1941 VA--2000 VA).
~ "Martha 'Hyde' Fowlkes" (1905 VA--1998 WA). She was a twin sister to "Elizabeth" below. Hyde was born on 4-5-1905. Hyde was named-for her mother's grandma, Martha Ann Hyde Fowlkes. Hyde married "Harvey C. Hallum" (1899 VA--1974 VA). Harvey graduated in 1919 from Southern College of Pharmacy where he was the president of his graduating class. Hyde & Harvey lived in Evansville, IN. After his death in 1974 in VA, Hyde lived with their daughter, "Martha Hallum m: Miller" (1944 Washington DC--2012 WA State) & her husband, Glenn Erwin Miller, near Seattle, WA. Hyde died on 1-28-1998 in Washington State. She lacked 2 months being 93 @ her death.
~ "Elizabeth Vaughan Fowlkes" (1905 VA--1976 VA). Elizabeth was the twin to Hyde (above). She was born on 4-5-1905. Elizabeth was named-for her father's mother, Elizabeth Vaughan Fowlkes. She never married & worked as a clerk/stenographer for Life Ins. of VA @ Richmond. She died on 7-20-1976 @ Richmond.

Her obit stated that she was survived by a sister, Millie L. Fowlkes, who married Joseph M. Anderson & that Millie lived @ Arlington, VA. Records did indicate that Henry M. Fowlkes (age 56) & Mattie Fowlkes (age 41) had a daughter on 9-29-1886 when LUCY was 12.
