The Helmet (Piqua, Ohio)
Thursday, 03 February 1887 - page six

The horse of Mr. Simon Shephard, near Piqua, took fright the other day at the cars, passing Woods Oil Mill. The animal soon became unmanageable, and getting the start of Mr. Shephard, dashed down the street at a furious rate, ran over Mr. Wood, knocked him upon the ground, making him perfectly unconscious for a short time. Some feared he was seriously hurt, but fortunately he was not. The blow of the horse was at such an angle as merely to stun him.
