Dorothy Joan Cardarella Silbernagel passed away on November 17, 2016 at the age of 79.
She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Louis Silbernagel Jr., she was a devoted wife of 59 years.
Dorothy was born on February 14, 1937 to John and Theresa Cardarella who have preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter Rhonda Silbernagel Martin (husband Ronald), sons; Charles Silbernagel (wife Colette), Jeffrey Silbernagel (wife Diana), and Eric Silbernagel (wife Hope). Grandmother of Heather Silbernagel Somers (husband Sean), Matthew Silbernagel, and Reese Martin, step-grandmother of Brandon (wife Bridget), and Caitlin. Great grandmother of Joseph Somers and step great grandmother of Porter and Leighton. She is also survived by her brother John Cardarella.

Dorothy attended Nicholls High School and Loyola University in New Orleans. She achieved a degree in Christian Theology from the Loyola University of New Orleans. She was a director of Religion at St. James Major in Gentilly.
Dorothy became a Eucharist Minister to assist the Priest in administrating the Sacraments of Holy Communion.

She volunteered to organize and direct many programs at St. Louis King of France for over 35 years. She was a Director of Religious Education, Confraternity of Christian doctrine, CCD, where she shared her passion of religious education to children. As the director of RCIA, The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, she helped those practitioners convert to Catholicism.

With her Confirmation Preparedness Program for SLKF, Dorothy guided high school students though the process of receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. She was active with the Alter Society and the Christian Youth Organization.

Dorothy was a member of the Legion of Mary where she served as Treasurer for the local chapter of an international association of the faithful within the Catholic church who serve the banner of Mary by practicing the spiritual works of mercy. She was also a member of Marians of Immaculate Conception of New Orleans where she served as a former President to support the Holy Father and to spread the devotion to Mary as the Immaculate Conception. She was also a member of SLKF busy bees where she served as recording secretary.

Dorothy Silbernagel was a devoted wife of late beloved "Charlie" and dedicated Mother.
She donated her time in the Lord's service to help people towards the faith and belief in Jesus Christ through her many programs, societies, and community services.

She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her and were blessed by her presence.
