He was a lifelong resident of Netcong. Teddy was an active member of the Netcong community. He was a volunteer fireman at Hilltop Fire Company #2 for more than 60 years and a former Grand Knight and 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus. In addition, Mr. Barbato was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country in World War II. After the war, he became a founding member of the St. Cesario Society. He was an active parishioner of St. Michael's RC Church in Netcong and loved all things Italian. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a charter member of the Netcong Sports Club, and was a member of the Huntsville Rod & Gun Club. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family and many friends. Teddy co-owned and operated Northern Appliance Service and later he was employed by Suburban Propane as an "installation man" for many years before retiring in 1985.
Teddy is survived by his devoted son, Ted & his wife, Barbara, his cherished grandchildren, Kristin and Amy & her husband, Todd, and his great-grandchildren, Jack, Cash and Gwen. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Conn) Barbato in 2005.
Teddy's Life Celebration will include visitation on Sunday, January 15th from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a funeral mass on Monday, January 16th at 10:00 am at St. Michael's RC Church, 4 Church Street, in Netcong, NJ. Teddy will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Twp., NJ. All services are entrusted to the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home of Landing, NJ. For memorial donations, please consider the Netcong Hilltop Fire Company #2, the Knights of Columbus Council #3665, or the St. Cesario Society.
