Gail Markwell was born in Goree, Tx on July 27, 1934. She passed from this life on Friday, January 6, 2017.

Her family moved to Oklahoma City in 1936 and then to Shawnee in 1948 where she met her beloved husband, Vernon L. Markwell and married March 25, 1951.

Gail Markwell was a long time Lincoln County resident who served as a member of the Meeker New Hope Cemetery Association, the Carl Hubbell Museum and served on the Lincoln and Pottawatomie Foster Child Review Board. She was involved in many other community projects including the Lincoln County History Book and the Meeker Community History Book. She worked side by side with her husband for many years as secretary, sales clerk and cashier in the Markwell Auction and Real Estate business until retirement in 2011.

She began her Christian life at the early age of 13 and was a member of the Aydelotte Church of Christ where she was active in many community service projects. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon L. Markwell; one son, Randy Dale Markwell; two daughters and two sons-in-laws, Debbie and Randy Flowers, Lisa and Mark Armitage; six grandchildren, Andrea Flowers-Householter and husband Mark Householter, Ryan Flowers and wife Heather, Kyle Flowers and wife Lindsey, Justin Armitage, Bradley Armitage and wife Lindsey and Leslie Armitage and fiancé, Anthony Wilson; seven great grandchildren, Tyler Armitage, Brooklyn Warner-Armitage, Marlee Flowers, Maddex Flowers, Nora Flowers, Kinley Householter and Willow Armitage; one sister, Bonnie Stringer, and one brother, Farrell Lewis and wife Mary Lynne, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

She is preceeded in death by an infant son, Larry Markwell, daughter-in-law, Lynda Holley-Markwell, parents, Lyle Lavert “LL” and Cleo Belle Lewis, father and mother- in-law, Harve and Zeffie Markwell, and brother, Teddy Lavert Lewis.

Services will be at 10 AM, Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Aydelotte Church of Christ south of Meeker.
