Born April 8, 1929, in Butler, he was the son of John and Mary McGuire Stein.
During World War II, he was a Navy seaman on the USS Colorado in the South Pacific. He was a life member and past commander of VFW Post 249 and a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are a sister, Mary Loutzenhiser of Butler; two brothers, Gerard "Popeye" Stein of Butler and Charlie Stein; and five children, Paula Chaney, Patsy Zaccari and Barry Stein, all of Butler, Bill Stein of Denver, and Laurie McKee of Texas. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Private services and burial were held.
