Hoven - Clarence "Sonny" Anthony Archambeau Jr. passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, in Hoven, S.D.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 9, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Marty, S.D. Sonny was laid to rest at the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery at Greenwood, S.D.

Sonny was born Dec. 22, 1949, to Clarence A. Archambeau Sr. and Ramona H. (Provost) Archambeau at Wagner, S.D. He grew up and attended school in Greenwood and Marty Indian School. He also attended high school at Sioux City Central, Sioux City, Iowa. He worked for his Grandpa Percy Archambeau on the farm during his teen years, and as a carpenter and mechanic in Sioux City, Iowa, during the 1970s and 1980s. He worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Aberdeen Area Office, Roads Division as an equipment specialist for about 20 years, and retired Dec. 1, 2006.

Sonny enjoyed fishing, bowling, pool, horseshoes, cooking out and hanging out with his children and family, and his teasing amongst all of his family, friends and coworkers.

He is survived by a special friend, Melody Labatte of Aberdeen; son Brian and daughter Renae of Aberdeen; stepsons Andy and Kelly Labatte of Aberdeen; daughters Tina and husband Sam Sully of Wagner, Sonya and husband Scott Krosch of Kingsley, Iowa, and Tonya Archambeau of Sioux City, Iowa, Michael Stetson of Sioux City, Iowa; seven grandchildren; four adopted grandchildren; two sisters: Jeanie and Alice Archambeau of Wagner; brothers Francis Archambeau of Langford, S.D., and Jim Bruguier of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence "Chuck" Archambeau Sr.; grandparents, Percy and Helena "Bernie" Archambeau, Everett and Evelyn (LeClaire) Provost; infant brother, Alan Archambeau; and infant niece, Erica Azure.

Survivors include his eldest son Gannon Avery of Niobrara, Nebraska. And Gannon's 2 daughters Shauna and Winona.
