Billy was born on November 25, 1935 in Austin, Texas to James Lincoln Barnes and Ida Opal (Davis) Barnes. Billy served our country in the United Stated Army from July 1, 1955 until being honorably discharged on June 12, 1958.
He was united in marriage to Johnnie Faye Morrison on December 25, 1960 in Manor, Texas. This union was blessed with five children.
Billy was a postal clerk for the United States Postal Service. Billy was a Deacon at Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Austin for at least 20 years. His hobbies include farming, ranching, spending time with his grandchildren, he loved to play and write songs, he was a poet who had his poetry published in the Texas Lawman Magazine, and the family will remember him for being humorous.
Billy passed away the evening of Friday, December 16, 2016 at his residence in Paige.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James & Ida Barnes, Daughter Lisa Lynn Barnes, grandson Kyle Barnes, and two brothers, Melvin Barnes and Steve Barnes.
Billy is survived by his wife of 55 years, four children, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
