Mildred Marie Campbell Pitts, age 84, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Paris, TX. She was born on December 12, 1932 at the Cold Springs Farm, the daughter of James Jennings Campbell, Sr. and Ethel Irene Brady Campbell.

A graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Mildred taught English at the Idabel Middle School for several years before retiring in 1995. She also had worked as a legal secretary for Ed LeForce and Don Shaw, and when the lake was being built at Broken Bow she took a job with the US Corp of Engineers. She loved gardening and continued her family's tradition of growing wonderful tasting strawberries. Mildred was an avid reader of the McCurtain Gazette and Daily Oklahoman Newspapers. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and was a lifetime resident of the area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Luther Pitts; a son, Bill Pitts; brothers, Willie Campbell, Paul Campbell and C.L. Campbell, and a sister, Violet Campbell.

Mildred is survived by her son, Jay Pitts of Cedar Park, TX; daughters, Patti Beavers of Bartlesville, OK and Beth Trousdale of Idabel, OK; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Haven Jo Campbell of Idabel, OK and Raymond and Jo Campbell of Stillwater, OK; sister, Lucille Davis of Idabel, OK and sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jay Burns of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Scott Beavers, Whitney Beavers, Carley Pitts, Keegan Pitts, Brooke Trousdale and Beau Trousdale; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and former students.
