Graduated from Purdue University in 1926. Following graduation he was assigned to a management position with Proctor & Gamble's factory in Havana, Cuba. After eight years in Cuba, he was selected to manage a new plant in Surabaya, Java, Dutch East Indies. In 1941 after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he and his wife returned to Cincinnati, Ohio (Proctor & Gamble's home base). He then became general manager of Schenley Distilleries of Lawrenceburg, Indiana of their Pharmaceuticals Division which made medicines during the war effort. In 1952 he became VP & GM of National Lead Co. of Ohio, contracted by the US Atomic Energy Com. to convert raw uranium to U235. He became plant manager of this facility in 1957.
