John Eldridge Glade, 74, of Austin, Texas, formerly of La Grange, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016.
John was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on January 2, 1942, the son of Henry and Helen (Thiehoff) Glade. He married Evelyn Elizabeth Meiners on August 17, 1968 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas.
He worked in sales for Dunlop Tire and Sporting. He was also in the U.S. Navy.
He and his beloved wife, Evelyn, raised horses together. For forty years they were inseparable. After she passed John was devastated to lose his best friend. He spent his remaining years meeting new friends and helping any way he could in his community. John was a kind and heartfelt man that touched many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Evelyn (Meiners) Glade on February 3, 2013 and mother-in-law, Renate Meiners.
Visitation will be held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange, Texas. Graveside Services will be held at Waldeck Cemetery, in Waldeck, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to charity of one’s choice.
