OBITUARY
Armistead Hamilton was born in Virginia, Sept. 27th [sic], 1817. He moved with his parents to Franklin county, Indiana, when a child, where he spent his youth and early manhood. On Nov. 22, 1837, he was married to Miss Sarah D. Murphy. To this union ten children were born, five sons and five daughters, six of whom survive them.
Father and mother moved to Knox county, Mo., in the year 1845 and lived a contented and happy life on the farm they entered until 1891 when mother was promoted to her heavenly home and was laid in the Bee Ridge cemetery.
Father and mother were active members of the Baptist church until their death. They believed in God and were unswerving in their devotion to Baptist princile's and the doctrine's of the new testament. They were warm friends of the American Baptist flag and had been constant readers of the paper for years. Father psesed to his heavenly rest Dec. 3rd, 1901, at his daughters, Mrs. J. T. Lewis of Palmyra, Mo., surrounded by members of his family and friends, at the ripe old age of 84 years, 2 months and 6 days. The funeral was preached by Bro. Collins, his warm friend and former pastor, after which his remains were interred by the side of his wife in the family cemetery at Bee Ridge. Peace to his memory. — A DAUGHTER.
