Rachel Dawn Hagood, 85, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at the Limestone Health Facility in Athens, AL. She was born on March 22, 1931 to Bryant Smith Bassham and Doris Mae Johnson Bassham.

Mrs. Hagood was an educator in the Limestone County School System for over thirty years and loved her students and fellow educators. She touched many young lifes during those years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Victor Eugene Bassham; and her husband, William (Billy) T. Hagood.

Survivors include two daughters, Anita Blakely (Mark) and Jan Cole (Tommy), both of Athens; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sarah White of Rogersville; and a niece and nephew.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Don Osborne and Daniel Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
