William married 1st, Sarah A. Sneathen on Sept. 24, 1859 and 2nd, Margaret Clare on Sept. 1, 1885 in Kingston, Caldwell County, Missouri. William and Sarah were living in Neosho Co., Kansas when she died but no tombstone has been found for her. He and his second wife, Margaret, made their home in Neosho Co., Kansas. She is buried in the East Hill Cemetery in Erie, Neosho Co., Kansas although no inscribed tombstone has been found for her either. William was a farmer.

William Shanaberger died at the home of his nephew, Marcus Shanaberger, Sunday, of a complication of diseases. He had been making his home with the nephew the past several months. The deceased had spent a good part of his life in the West. He is survived by three married daughters, who live in western states, also by two sisters and one brother. The funeral service was conducted at the Methodist church, Tuesday afternoon, by Rev. O. P. Paxon.

William Shanaberger was the son of Peter and Catharine Shanaberger, and was born in Ashland county, Ohio, May 20, 1835. His age was 82 years, 2 month and 15 days. He was twice married, both wives being deceased. The burial was at Fair Haven.
