A wedding ceremony late yesterday afternoon at the bedside of the bride, following an announcement by doctors that she might die within the ensuing 12 hours, united Miss Phoebe Van Schoonhoven Thorne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Thorne, and Harry Kearsarge Knapp, Jr., whose father until recently owned the controlling Interest In the East river ferries and is one of the most prominent members of the Jockey Club. Young Mr. Knapp he is 21, and his bride is 20 said today at the residence of his parents-in-law that Mrs. Knapp is still in a critical condition. Doctors and trained nurses are in constant attendance and the bridegroom's parents are hurrying home from Havana In response to a cablegram. "She was barely strong enough to make the responses at the ceremony," said Mr. Knapp.
