Charles "Bud" L. Smitley, 83, of Tarrs, Pa., passed away Monday, February 13, 2006, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital.
He was born December 18, 1922 in Dunbar, Pa., son of the late John Smitley and Elizabeth Matthews Smitley.
He was the husband of Betty Dunaway Smitley for 59 years.
He was of the Methodist faith. He was member of the American Legion Post 0011 and the Elks Lodge 570 both of Lancaster, Ohio, he was a retired manager of production control for Anchor Glass Corporation. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Randy Smitley of Florence, Kentucky; grandson, Justin Smitley and wife, Jessica of Lancaster, Ohio; great-granddaughter, Breanna Smitley of Lancaster, Ohio; sister, Hope Galderesi of Lemont Furnace, Pa.; brothers: John B. Smitley of Brunett, Texas, David Smitley of Waynesburg, Pa., Robert Smitley and wife, Janice of Logansville, Georgia, Gerald Smitley and wife, Mildred of Hopwood, Pa.; two special sets of in-laws: Harold (Sonny) Dunaway and wife, Betty of Dunbar, Pa. and Raymond Dunaway and wife, Marge of Mount Independence; sister-in-law, Janice Dunaway of Lemont Furnace, Pa.
Preceded in death are a sister, Marjorie Cupillo and his parents.
Friends and family will be received 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2006, in the BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Connellsville Street Dunbar, Pa. Services at the BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME, Thursday, February 16, 2006, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jeffrey Popson officiating.
Interment will be at the Sylvan Heights cemetery.
