Retired Kremlin area farmer, Vernon L. Hill, 86, died in a Havre hospital on Friday, May 23. Funeral rites were conducted on May 27, in the Van Orsdel Inited Methodist Church in Havre. Interment was in Highland cemetery.

Hill was born in Manly, Iowa, March 23, 1889. He moved to Stirum, N.D., in 1900, with his parents, and was raised and schooled there, later farming in the area. In 1911 he came to South Kremlin and farmed there. He retired in 1973.

Hill was a member of the Blue Lodge, 32nd degree of the Great Falls Consistory, and the Algeria Shrine. He belonged to the Elks Lodge and was a 25-year member of the Eagles Lodge. He was a member of the Methodist church.

An ardent sportsman, Hill was also involved in camera work, photographing wildlife and scenic areas.

On April 4, 1913, in Havre, he married Mattie W. Hawkins. She preceded him in death March 14, 1974. Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Howard (Dorothy) Bailey, Kremlin, and Mrs. Neva Lambrecht, Lisbon, N.D.; a son, Charles Cooper, Mt. Vernon, Wash.; 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ivy Rolston, Havre. Three brothers, one sister, and one daughter preceded him in death.
