Obituary:
Betty Louise Hopkins was born on August 6, 1938 to Elmer Scobee and Myrtle Baker Scobee in Blue Eye, Missouri. Betty spent most of her childhood in Stone County, Missouri with her 7 other siblings where she attended Galena High School. At the age of 14, Betty started working for a family outside of the home, caring for their children while they worked on the farm. Betty would cook meals for the children and care for the house and they would all attend school together. In 1974 Betty began working for Wal-Mart in Mtn. Grove, where she stayed until 1988 when she retired as department manager of the fabric department.

Betty married Norman Hopkins on May 11, 1962. The couple had eight children; Cathryn, Betty May, Ricky, Randy, Steven, Teresa, John, and Donna. The family spent many happy years nestled together in the little rock house on Center Street, sharing rooms and squeezing around the dining room table where Betty would always place a home cooked meal for her family. In 2006 Norman and Betty celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. Norman went home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2007.

Betty went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 24, 2016. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Ernest, Carl, Duewy, and Chet; and her sisters: Fern and Nancy. She is also preceded in death by her grandson: Tony; and her great-grandson: Teddy. She is survived by her sister: Katherine Kragh of Springfield, Missouri; as well as her sister-in-law: Joyce Scobee, of Guston, Kentucky; and her brother-in-law: Bob Burks, of Marionville, MO.

Betty will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who love her, especially her eight children: Cathryn Pfiefle of Wenatchee, Washington, Betty May Lathrom of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Rick Hall of Witchita, Kansas, Randy Hall of Springfield, Missouri, Steven Hopkins of Lexington, Oklahoma, Teresa Gaston of Mountain Grove, Missouri, John Hopkins of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Donna Eggert of Willow Springs, Missouri. Her memory will also forever be cherished by her 28 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Her love and legacy will live on through the lives of her family and everyone she touched by her living her life the only way she knew how; exemplifying the love of Christ.
