Branchville, Jan. 9 - Samuel Fairey Berry, 77, son of the late William and Harriett Berry, died at his home in the Hunters Chapel community January 5 of injuries received in an automobile wreck September 9, 1937. He was twice married. His first wife was the late Mrs. Melle F. Rhoad Berry, who preceded him to the grave 35 years ago. From this union four children survive: Mrs. George S. Wilson, Bamberg; Carson Y. Berry and E. Ernest Berry, Branchville; Marion N. Barry, Ehrhardt. His second wife, the former Miss Minnie Dora Weeks, survives him with the following children: Oscar L. Berry, J. Willie Berry, Mrs. Watson A. McAlhany, Branchville; Mrs. Peter H. Dukes, Mrs. Bryant J. Reeves, Reevesville; James B. Berry, Winnsboro; 34 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, J. W. Berry, Branchville. Funeral services were conducted at Zion Methodist church Thursday afternoon by the Rev. P. K. Rhoad of Bowman; the Rev. Mr. Stemmerman, Lutheran preacher of Ehrhardt, the Rev. G. W. Davis of Ehrhardt. Burial was held in the church cemetery. © The State, Columbia, SC, 10 Jan 1938
