Frank L. Hoover, 73 years, well known resident, died Thursday, December 10, 1959, in his home. He had been ill several months.

Mr. Hoover was a son of Daniel L. and Sophronia Cary Hoover, and was born October 2, 1886, at Castile.

As a young man, Mr. Hoover was one of Waynesburg's first automobile dealers and mechanics. He held the dealership for the famous Winton, and later the Oakland. For some years he operated an independent body and repair shop. Mr. Hoover was one of the leaders in organizing the automobile show which was held several years in the National Guard Armory.

For several years Mr. Hoover was superintendent of the borough sewage disposal plant and was also in charge of maintenance and repair of the borough parking meters.

Mr. Hoover was a charter member of Waynesburg Volunteer Fire Company and served as president from 1926 to 1932, and fire chief from 1932 to 1941.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church and a 50 year member of Waynesburg Lodge 153, Free and Accepted Masons. Mr. Hoover was also a member of Waynesburg Sportsmen's League.
