The following newspaper obituary kindly provided by WildGeese15, Contributor #47026950:

Mrs. Dolly T. Berry, relict of the late W.W. Berry, passed away last night at 9:30 o'clock at her home, No. 644 Broad street, after a lingering illness. Although her death was not unexpected, yet it came as a sad blow to her family and friends, who have been anxious attendants at her bedside during all the months of her sufferings.

She was born in Fayette county, Georgia, August 10, 1828, but had lived in this vicinity nearly all of her life. She was married to the late Wilson W. Berry on March 6, 1846. The deceased was a devoted member of St. Luke church, having joined in her early womanhood, and was a regular attendant upon the services up to the time her health gave away. The late B.F. Marcrum was her brother, and she was the last member of the family, all having preceded her to the grave.

The voice of the Master called her and the sweet and tender spirit quitted its frail tenement of clay and winged it flight and now finds rest and peace and happiness in the bosom of Him she so loved to serve. For many months she had been a great sufferer and her death was but a happy release from the ills to which its flesh is heir, and when the summons came, she peacefully quietly … and happily closed her eyes in death as one gently falling asleep.

"Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep,

From which none ever wakes to weep."

From early youth she was a Christian, her upright walk through life and her Godly conversation being indisputable evidence of the great fact that she was one of the redeemed of the Lord.

To speak of her as she deserves to be spoken of, would perhaps seem to those who did not know her, to be too much praise. But as her devoted family and dear friends stand by her and view all that was _____ of her and feel and know that such weak words of praise as might be spoken of her would but feebly and imperfectly, in deed, tell of her true worth and nobility of character as a friend and neighbor, as a mother – in fact in all the relations of life, one to another, and last, but by no means least, as a faithful servant of the Great Master.

Three sons and five daughters survive her. They are: George O. Berry, Sr., and A.F. Berry, of this city, M.W. Berry of Kaolin, Ala.; Mrs. P.J. Whiteside and Miss Sadie Berry, of this city; Mrs. S.R. Baldwin of Midland, Ga.; Mrs. J.T. Lackland of Grove Hill, Ala., and Mrs. E.S. Smith of Macon. She also leaves twenty grandchildren.

The funeral will take place this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock from St. Luke church, and will be conducted by Rev. Theodore Copeland. The remains will be laid to rest in Linwood cemetery by the side of her husband.
