Thomas Kidd was born before 8 January 1625/26, (Christening date) in Soham Parish, Cambridgeshire, England the son of Captain William and Elizabeth Nethercote Kidd, Jr. He married on 29 June 1668 at Christchurch, Middlesex County, Virginia, Jane Willis the daughter of Thomas and Jane Henmarsh Willis.

Thomas Kidd came to Lancaster Co., VA on the south side of the Rappahanock River in 1648, his transportation and that of 22 others paid by Richard Lee, Gentleman.
Thomas Kidd settled on 200 acres on Burnham's Creek in that part of Lancaster Co. which eventually became a part of Middlesex Co. There were a number of land transactions involving Thomas Kidd between 1658 and 1674 by which he acquired a 400 acre tract and a 200 acre tract in Middlesex Co.
Sometime around 1699, Thomas Kidd married Jane Willis, the daughter of Thomas Willis, whose lands adjoined those of His.
In 1646, Thomas KIDD had a debt of 50 pds to Mr. Chews Plantation.
In 1648, Thomas KIDD transported to land on the York River with 24 persons.
In 1653, Thomas KIDD granted 200 acres in Lancaster Co. (near Robert Chounige).
Middlesex Co. was created from Lancaster Co.
