In Polish her name was Władysława. She was born in Bagienice, a village in the administrative district (Gmina) of Chorzele, within Przasnysz County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. At the time this was under the administration of Russia during Poland's partition. She migrated to the United States in 1909 at about the age of about 19.


Władysława was the fourth child born to Aleksander Jabłonowski and Domicela Jabłonowska:

1) Adolf, b.1880.

2) Aleksandra, b. 1882.

3) Feliksa, b. 1884.

4) Władysława, b. 1886 - d. 1949. Emigrated to the U.S., known as "Lottie" and later "Laura" married Vincent Czaplicki. Buried at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Geddes, NY. 

5) Kordula, b. 1888, died as a child.

6) Bronisław, b.1890 - d. 1960. Emigrated to the U.S., known as "Bruno." Buried at Holy Cross Polish National Cemetery, Lakeland, NY.

7) Stanisława, b. 1892 (great grandmother of Ewa Przedpełska).

8) Antoni, b. 1895 (died as a child).

9) Eugeniusz, b. 1897 - d. 1918.

10) Aniela, b. 1889 (died as a child).

11) Stanisław, b.1901.


[Thanks to Ewa Przedpełska, the great-granddaughter of Stanisława Jabłonowski, Władysława's sister. Ewa provided invaluable help by obtaining information about the Jabłonowski family from Bagienice in Poland through discussions with her 90 year old grandfather and from family documents.]


According to the 1940 U.S. Census, listed under the name "Lottie." Resided at 1431 Burnet Avenue in Syracuse, NY in a home that she and her husband Vincent [Wicenty] owned. Also residing with them were their children, who were all born in New York state: son Alex, 28 years old, occupation was delivery man for the post office; daughter Jean, 27 years old [I believe this is an error: it should be a son, a male named "Gene" who was born in 1913], occupation was laborer of a staff [?] machine; daughter Cecelia, 20 years old, occupation was waitress; daughter Helen, 17 years old; daughter Irene, 15 years old.


Her brother Eugeniusz was killed in action during the First World War. He enlisted in the Regular Army and served in the U.S. 9th Infantry Regiment of the 2nd Infantry Division and was killed during the Battle of Soissons on July 18, 1918. He is interred at Oise-Aisne American Cemetery and Memorial in France.

Mrs. Wladyslawa Czaplicki of 1431 Burnet av. died suddenly in Crouse-Irving Hospital this morning.

She was a communicant of Transfiguration Church and a member of St. Stephen's Society, P.R.C.U. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of Transfiguration Church.

Surviving are three daughters, the Misses Cecilia, Helen and Irene; two sons, Alexander and Eugene, and a brother, Bronislaw Jabloniwski.

Funeral services will be at 8:30 A.M. Thursday from the home and at 9 A.M. in Transfiguration Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Recital of the Rosary will be tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday nights at 7 P.M. in the home.
